Oscars 2011: The Fab Five

These five ladies were all winners on Oscar's night.

The unspoken competition of best dressed was unquestionably designated to the reigning five: Mila Kunis, Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Mila Kunis resonated in a delicate violet lace haute couture gown by Elie Saab. Her dress captured her natural beauty without restraint. The gown flowed elegantly and endlessly while creating an outstanding contrast with the notorious red carpet. Her accessories were simple which allowed the edgy and captivating slits of lace to pursue the statement it was crafted to state. Although she wasn't recognized for her outstanding performance in Black Swan, we are making a point to recognize her as best dressed. To many more awards shows, and the recognition you deserve for the years to come. Bravo Mila.

Cate Blanchett exuded charm through her classy Givenchy haute couture gown. Her gown was constructed to perfection. The combination of lavish beading and a perfect silhouette elevate and translate Blanchett's daring sense of style to an eminent standing.

Amy Adams sparkled in a gorgeous gown by L'Wren Scott. She shimmered like a precious stone and added just the exact amount of accessories to accent her eyes and skin. The green accented jewel tones completed her look with an effortless glare of utter and total glam.

Natalie Portman glowed in more ways than one in her Rodarte gown and in this case it isn't thanks to her pregnancy. The deep shade of purple looked gorgeous contrasted with the Oscar-winner's olive skin and brown curls. The continuity of her dress emphasized everyone's point of interest (which is also the hardest to accomplish with ease) -- her belly. Congratulations are in order for the mom-to-be; a perfect way to start off the New Year.

Gwyneth Paltrow looked extraordinary in her gown by Calvin Klein. Her confident, metallic and plunging ensemble proved her well-deserved spot amongst the chicest of the fashion gods. The minimalistic silhouette was animated by the spunk created by mixture of golds and silvers.

The poncho makes its guest appearance into everyone's closet. It is the unspoken piece that ignites a fashionista's imagination and transports her or him to a level of flawless grunge. Fall 2011 is the season of the poncho. It is time to bring out your ageless piece and ruffle the fringe and indulge yourself in its shapeless comfort.

Dress it up or use it to cover up a shameless and urgent escape from the house, the poncho's versatile form can elevate an outfit from the depths of fashion's worst faux pas. However this is not an invitation to dabble and distort the poncho's premiere purpose. It is your statement piece, so please don’t try to use it as a stepping-stone. The asymmetrical lines, fringe infested raw edges and kaleidoscope inspired prints are a tangible expression of a designer’s dream world. Get lost in the comfort, get lost in the shape, embrace the revolution that has never left your closet and dust off your vintage poncho for fall.

Photographic Memory: NYFW Told Through a Lens

What makes New York Fashion Week memorable? Is it the presence of fashions finest? Or the runway shows that make the fashion gods quiver with pride? NYFW is an all-encompassing function that unifies all of fashion's remotest ties. It's about the outfits, the style, the color, the people, the shows and most of all what can be said without saying anything at all.

Phil Oh, of Streetpeeper.com captures the moments that say the most amidst the chaotic and colorful streets of New York during the imperious week that reigns fashion's social and cultural airways. Ready or Not Here She Comes: Rachel Zoe Fall 2011

Rachel Zoe, stylist turned designer expanded her reportage this season as she released her first Fall 2011 ready-to-wear collection. Her sleek and shameless pieces play up the femininity that can be found in menswear. Her collection channels vintage pieces and the decades past that have inspired her over her career. The famed stylist had little convincing left to do as she styled looks from her collection immaculately to perfection.

Her minimalist approach to layering works well with the carefully thought out accessories. She keeps to classic black and whites with pops of browns, but made sure to infiltrate her playful personality into her work with some of her evening looks. Her effortless transition as a stylist to designer has been deemed apparent through her first collection. As for her passion to design as well, her Resort 2012 collection is wrapped up and ready to hit the runway this fall. Look for her line at Nordstroms, Dillards, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdales. As for the infamous stylist, she cannot give up her roots.
