The End of the Ugly Christmas Sweater

The Nutcracker is the sixth sense of Christmas. It completes the holiday season with expressive dance, alluring settings and most importantly unforgettable garments. The costumes depict a story that cannot solely be expressed through dance. It is the combination of the seductive movement and pristine execution of styling that allows the ballet's story to be told in the perfect voice. Ballet costumes are great inspirations to many designers, and their simplistic yet effortless elegance is a favorite to translate into contemporary wear. The garments emit a sense of eminence, but remain most attractive through their flexible and comfort nature. Want to dress up your holiday outfits this season? Forget the light-up necklace and snowman pin, and embrace the timeless simplicity of ballet inspired pieces. Classic holiday cheer awaits you in your closet.

The Haight Debate

Tucked away in the heart of San Francisco is the essential hot spot for every avid fashion hungry spirit. Haight street is well known for many things, and it's infamous legacy cannot merely be summed up in a paragraph, but it can be appreciated. The vibrant and colorful graffiti juxtaposed with distinct styles cannot be found anywhere else but in the heart of San Francisco. The loud and shameless music echos in the background and provides a necessary soundtrack for your unique and memorable shopping experience. Settling for used clothing is worth the compromise of vintage glam when it is accessible with a stroll down the street. If you ever find yourself in San Fran, indulge your inner fashionista and take a trip and visit an influential origin of taste and style. Although this is not the first or last time Haight street will be written about, it is a humble nod at the underestimated, but never forgotten tricks, thrills, and trends found on the catwalk of San Francisco.

The Brooch Approach

Whether you are seduced by minimalistic looks or fueled by outlandish statement pieces, the often undermined and forgotten brooch could be the perfect accessory your wardrobe is yearning for this season. Spring 2011 revitalizes the delicate and powerful accent of the brooch. A simple jersey tee, dark skinnys, knee high boots and a blazer with a statement brooch. An elegant a-line dress, the perfect patterned tights, booties, and a sweater with a brooch. The combinations are endless and the results astounding. The brooch has been worn for centuries on necklines, hats, and cuffed sleeves. Reinvent it with your own personal twist and give pieces of flair an entirely new meaning.

Brooches designed by: Mawi, Giorgio Armani, Oscar de la Renta, Pamela Love, CA&LOU, and few favorite vintage finds.

No Fur to Faux Fur

It's that time of year again. Winter is here, it's time to bundle up next to the fire with a vintage Vogue and ponder what trend to bring back. And vegetarians beware, what is keeping everyone so hot and warm this crisp and frosty season? Fur. It's the one guilty pleasure everyone shares. However, there is no need for a protest or a statement; there are options for the environmentally friendly --faux fur. Because what is fashion without fur? After all, we are animals aren't we?
